The Reason(s)

Garrett and Forrest
1. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
Biking across America has always been a "life goal" for Houston. (That and running a marathon. Peer pressure led to a repeat of that one. Assuming we make it, will it be the last trip across?) Since Garrett and his brother, Forrest, were very little, they have been brainwashed into accepting this as a good idea. Forrest has thought better of it and will not be going this time.

2. To raise money.
We are soliciting both corporate and individual pledges of support for the ride. All money pledged will be donated to the Piedmont Environment and Education Foundation.

3. To raise awareness.
You don't need us to tell you this and even if you did we probably don't need to pull a stunt off like this to get your attention. We are running out of oil. Intense agriculture and fossil fuel consumption required to enhance development for the overly large population is changing the climate. Americans are fat. Get off your ass and ride a bike.
